Please let this serve as a friendly reminder to students who live off-campus that the City of Fort Collins has a snow removal ordinance requiring owners and/or tenants of properties to keep their sidewalks "free and clear of snow and ice" 24-hours after snow stops falling OR risk being billed if the city has the snow removed instead.

The ordinance applies even if you are away on break. It’s a good idea to ask a neighbor or friend if they would shovel your sidewalk while you are away.
The City will shovel driveways and sidewalks if they are buried by snowplowing after residents have cleared them. If your cleared driveway or sidewalk is covered by a snowplow, report it to the Streets Department at (970) 221-6615.
For details about the ordinance and possible penalities for non-compliance, visit the City of Fort Collins Neighborhood Services or call (970) 224-6046.
