CSU Summer Theatre Festival July 9-19

Shakespeare at Sunset presents 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' a romantic comedy which some speculate Shakespeare wrote for a wedding between two aristocrats. This play is one of The Bard's most popular and has been performed on stages throughout the world. Bring your lawn chair, a blanket, and a picnic, and escape to the realm of fairyland where, as Shakespeare put it, "love hath no law but its own."

Performances moved indoors 

From the director:

"Given the persistence of rain and an uncooperative extended weekend forecast, the production of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' is moving indoors.

"We made this decision after today's (July 6) down pour when our tech staff waded through an inch of standing water to rescue lighting equipment and cables. If weather cooperates, patrons are still invited to picnic at the gazebo in the Annual Trial Flower Gardens and the lawns around the University Center for the Arts from 6-7 p.m. on performance nights."

So opens William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, a play inhabited by creatures such a Puck, a clever and mischievous elf; fairies such as King Oberon and Queen Titania; and Athenian lovers Lysander, Hermia, Helena, and Demetrius. 

Summer Theatre Festival: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Starting Thursday, July 9, the Colorado State and Fort Collins' communities will have the pleasure of seeing A Midsummer Night's Dream, one of the Bard's most popular plays, performed in the University Theatre at the University Center for the Arts. 

CSU School of the Arts' traditional summer theatre festival returns with Shakespeare's beloved tale of shenanigans and love. Set to Purcell's beautiful music, The Fairy Queen, this will be a delightful evening the whole family can enjoy.

Seating begins at 7 p.m. and performances run from 7:30-9 p.m.  

Cash-only ($5) admission at show

Tickets will not be pre-sold for this event and the cost is $5, payable by cash or check only at the show. Kids five and under are free.  Tickets go on sale at 6:30 p.m. For more information please call (970) 491-3603.
