Colorado State University, Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement Office, or SLiCE, and Food Bank for Larimer County partner to sponsor Voices of Hunger, a student contest searching for a creative portrayal of hunger to help raise awareness and/or funds for those in need in our community.
In support of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month, the Voices of Hunger contest launches Tuesday, Sept. 1 and is open to all CSU students.
As long-standing partners in the fight against hunger through the event, Cans Around the Oval, CSU and Food Bank organizers wanted to take it one step further this year by offering an opportunity for students to bring a voice to their actions against hunger. All entries are due Sept. 15 at 5 p.m.
“Voices of Hunger will allow writers, artists, and social activists alike to put their voice into a project that raises awareness against hunger in our community. Hunger is not in another place at another time, but instead is happening today, right here, at this very second,” said Amy Pezzani, executive director of the Food Bank for Larimer County. “I hope each student is inspired to shed light and add a voice to the real crisis plaguing many of our neighbors in our community.”
The winning student and a guest will be flown to Los Angeles on Sept. 29 for exclusive admission to Rock a Little, Feed A Lot - The Concert for a Hunger-Free America, the culminating event of Feeding America’s Hunger Action Month. Sheryl Crow will headline the concert and debut a new song about hunger in the United States. She will be joined by scheduled live performances from:
