Graphic Responses, a special online exhibition, will accompany the 16th biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition display at Colorado State University. This open exhibition showcases visual responses to world events by Colorado State design students and designers from around the world who were invited to share their digital poster designs.
The electronic exhibition traditionally reflects a variety of cultural insights, social concerns, political views and graphic commentary.
The Graphic Responses online exhibition was initiated in 2003 during the 13th Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition to give artists a way to respond immediately to issues of social concern. The program was expanded for the 14th exhibition to include a competition for students using the electronic format and revealed areas of concern ranging from war to environmental sustainability. This electronic element continues during the 16th poster exhibition, providing a forum for artists to freely express their thoughts.
CSU student responses will also be on display Sept. 28-Oct. 17 in the Glass Gallery, located in the CSU Visual Arts Building on Lake Street.
The 16th Biennial Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition, or CIIPE, the only international poster presentation in the United States, runs from Oct. 2-Dec 22.
Featuring work by 82 artists from 28 countries, the 16th CIIPE exhibits and interprets poster design, brings examples of visual communication to an American audience, and promotes international understanding and dialogue through the graphic arts. Posters from the international exhibition’s invited artists will fill the CSU University Art Museum in the University Center for the Arts.
