Working at CSU
October 23, 2009
Dee Castaneda has a great work ethic and he brightens other people's lives -- just by coming to CSU every day to do his job.
Dee CastanedaDee was nominated by Brenda Duffy of CSH Health Network-Counseling Services. Here is what Brenda had to say about Dee, as well as Denise Preuit (his co-worker)...
“I look forward to seeing Dee's and Denise’s friendly smiles throughout the day as they not only do their job, but on numerous occasions go above and beyond for our staff in Aylesworth Hall NW. They “make my day” and for this and their outstanding work ethic, I consider them Everyday Heroes.”
Dee has been employed in his present job as a custodian with CSU for one year. Prior to this position, Dee worked in Housing and Dining Services for 11 years in various positions. Dee is a native of Fort Collins and worked in construction and landscaping jobs before coming to CSU.
Dee has coached numerous sports through Jericho Athletic Association and the Fort Collins Park and Recreation department over the past years. He enjoys sports and enjoyed coaching some of the teams his children played on.
Dee and his wife have been co-owners in a bail bonds business in Fort Collins for the last 6 - 7 years. His family enjoys camping and they try to camp 2-3 times during the summer. One of Dee’s favorite campground sites in Colorado is the North Michigan Reservoir. Dee also enjoys reading as a hobby.
When asked how he feels about being nominated for an Everyday Hero, Dee said the past year he has worked in Facilities, he truly feels appreciated. The Aylesworth staff and students appreciate the work they do. Some of the staff have sent emails to his boss commending Dee and Denise for their good work.
Dee is thankful to his boss for communicating and thanking him for his good work on an individual basis too.
Do you have a colleague who deserves recognition, a co-worker who makes the workplace better or someone who just “made your day?”
Everyday Hero is a special recognition program sponsored by the Classified Personnel Council for recognizing outstanding employees within the CSU community. All Colorado State University state classified staff, administrative professionals, and faculty members are eligible to receive the award.
