Gov. Jennifer Granholm will not veto funding for the Michigan State University agricultural extension and experiment station programs, as many anticipated.
Gov. Granholm reached an agreement with MSU, announcing the Extension programs will be restructured to better promote the state’s emerging green economy.
Granholm proposed cutting by half a $64 million appropriation for both programs. The Legislature restored all but $256,000 in the budget it approved, and it was rumored that Granholm would veto all or some of the money.
