Bobby Bowden is to football coaching what Bill Gates is to the software industry. The College Hall of Fame coach, who has won more football games than anyone other than Joe Paterno, will be on the CSU campus Friday, and Rams Head Coach Steve Fairchild is making a special invitation.
Bobby Bowden, the longtime head football coach at Florida State University, will speak 5 p.m. Friday, April 23 at Moby Arena.
Recognizing that students sold out their section at several home games last season, and acknowledging that CSU faculty and staff are critical in recruiting and graduating Rams players, Fairchild is inviting any CSU student with a valid ID, as well as any current CSU faculty or staff member, to hear Bowden speak Friday night at Moby Arena.
Bowden is scheduled to speak at 5 p.m. and members of the CSU campus will be admitted free of charge.
“We’re offering this invitation,” Fairchild said, “because we appreciate everything our campus community is doing for us in support of our football program and our quest to get CSU back in the national spotlight. We don’t take that support for granted.”
The legendary Bowden, not on a sideline for the first time in 56 years this spring, possesses a lifetime of wisdom on:
He will address the CSU community and other football coaches as the keynote speaker at the Rams’ annual spring coaches clinic, on the eve of the Rams’ spring game (11 a.m. Saturday, Hughes Stadium).
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, too good to pass up,” Fairchild said. “I’m going to consider it a true privilege to hear Coach Bowden speak and I wanted to share that privilege with every person on the CSU campus.”
No registration is required for current CSU faculty, staff and students with valid ID.
