With the election registration deadline nearing, ASCSU is pushing harder than ever to get students engaged, registered, and voting. By registering in Larimer County, students will be able to vote locally on Nov. 2.
This year the Associated Students of Colorado State University is making a big push to get students registered for the upcoming election Nov. 2. Students are encouraged to stop by the booth on the Plaza or visit Rock the Vote to complete their registration.
Students may register and vote in Fort Collins on Nov. 2, if you have resided in Colorado and your precinct 30 days prior to the election. The deadline for registration is Oct. 4.
With the increasing time demands on students in this day and age, a relatively new program known as Rock the Vote has emerged. This program allows students to register online via the Web and complete their registration in a timely manner.
ASCSU has created a Web page link to the national website specifically designed for students that will make this process easier. "Our generation tends to be more engaged online so it was a logical step to move registration online," said ASCSU Director of Community Affairs Chase Eckerdt.
"It's safe and secure and wonderfully convenient for students that don't have time to stop on the Plaza," he adds of Rock the Vote.
ASCSU's goal this year is to register between 7,000 and 10,000 students residing in Fort Collins for this upcoming election. By encouraging students to register their current address, students will be able to vote in the city elections as well as voice their opinions on the upcoming ballot.
"We're clearly at a crossroads and a defining point in our country. Students can really influence the outcome of that," says Eckerdt.
Larimer County residents are eligible to vote if they:
