Contributions to science and enthusiasm and dedication to higher education are just some of the accomplishments and qualities which have earned Colorado State University atmospheric science graduate students significant awards and fellowships in 2010.
Adele Lichtenberger, American Meteorological Society Scholarship.
Graduate students in Colorado State University’s internationally recognized Department of Atmospheric Science have received numerous awards and fellowships that recognize their outstanding achievements and contributions to science.
The Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University has been designated by the University as a Program of Research and Scholarly Excellence, and has been internationally recognized for its cutting edge research and leadership.
The American Meteorological Society Scholarship is awarded to a promising young scientist seeking a career in the atmospheric and related oceanic and hydrological fields. The award offers a $24,000 stipend for a nine-month period.

The Center for Earth Atmosphere Studies Fellowship is awarded to new scientists who may eventually seek employment at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. This Fellowship is a link between faculty and students of the Department of Atmospheric Science at CSU and the scientists of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center.

The NASA Earth and Space Science Fellowship is awarded to individuals pursing doctoral degrees in Earth and space sciences to ensure continued training of a highly qualified workforce in disciplines needed to achieve NASA’s scientific goals.
The fellowship offers training grants to the respective universities with the advisor serving as the principal investigator.

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education’s Graduate Research Environmental Fellowship supports graduate students in the Office of Biological and Environmental Research-funded collaborative global change research at universities and national laboratories.
Sarah Ringerud, Center for Earth Atmosphere Studies Fellowship.
GREF Fellows have two mentors: a university faculty advisor and a national laboratory research mentor who collaboratively guide the research activities. GREF makes three-year appointments that are renewable annually based on evidence of the Fellow’s satisfactory academic and research direction and progress.

The Programs of Research and Scholarly Excellence were established at Colorado State University in 1991. Programs are awarded this designation because they have achieved great distinction and set a standard for excellence that may serve as a model for programs throughout the institution.

Amanda Sheffield, Department of Energy's Office of Science Graduate Fellowship program
The Department of Energy’s Office of Science Graduate Fellowship Program is designed to support outstanding students who are pursuing graduate training in the areas of physics, biology, chemistry, mathematics, engineering, computational sciences, and environmental sciences.
The Fellowship provides partial tuition support, an annual stipend for living expenses, and a research stipend for full-time graduate study and thesis/dissertation research at a U.S. academic institution for three years.

The Gates Millennium Scholars Program is designed to promote excellence and provide an opportunity for an outstanding minority student with significant financial needs to reach their highest potential.

The Shrake-Culler scholarship at Colorado State University is awarded to graduate students in the Department of Engineering who demonstrate a strong academic performance and enthusiasm and dedication to higher education.
