Apply for the McGowan Business Scholarship

The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund has selected Colorado State University as a McGowan Scholars Academic Institution for the 2009-2010 academic year.

From the College of Business

A grant from the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund provides a two-semester scholarship for top, full-time, in-state or out-of-state business students entering their senior year of study. Applicants must be nominated by at least one faculty member in the College of Business.

Basic requirements

Scholars are selected on the basis of academic performance, must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher, and demonstrate excellence of character, leadership, and/or community involvement.

Applicants shall not have received or subsequently receive any other scholarship award which, when combined with the McGowan Scholars Award, would provide a benefit greater than the cost of 2009-2010 tuition at Colorado State. Recipient will be known as the "William G. McGowan Scholar."

Applications and essays must be submitted by Mar. 1, 2008 at 11 p.m. (MST). For additional information regarding the William G. About the scholarship

The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund was named in honor of the man who founded MCI Communications Corp. in 1968. McGowan was admitted to Harvard Business School to pursue an MBA degree, but did not have funds to complete his studies. He won Harvard's Baker Scholars award, which provided the funds necessary for him to earn his degree and launch a successful business career.
