The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is announcing its first-ever Facebook scholarship competition. Members of NSCS can compete in challenges to win prizes and scholarships.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars Summer Success (S2) Challenge is a 12-week program that will launch June 6 and continue until August 2011.
Colorado State University NSCS members are invited to join the NSCS across the country and more than 700 members who have already signed up to take this three month challenge and win a chance to become a scholarship recipient.
Each week of the program will feature a different challenge on the NSCS Facebook page as well as in the weekly newsletter for members to complete to earn points. For every "challenge" members complete, they will be awarded a certain number of points.
"This is the first time we've done something like this on such a huge scale using the national Facebook page, so we're all very excited about the outcome," said Leah Schklar, a coordinator for Member Services and Interaction, who manages the NSCS Facebook page.
"We love the idea of engaging and helping members grow throughout the summer, but we're most excited about awarding a $1,000 scholarship at the end of it!"
Each week members will have the chance to win a prize. At the end of the summer the top three S2 challengers with the most points will be awarded scholarships. NSCS will award a $1,000 scholarship to the top challenger and two $500 scholarships to the runners-up.
To register, NSCS members must visit the NSCS Facebook page and view the note about registering.
The National Society of Collegiate Scholars is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and an honors organization inviting first-and second-year college students. Membership is by invitation only, based on grade point average and class standing.
NSCS awards more than a quarter of a million dollars in scholarships every year. NSCS offers members exclusive access to scholarships, career resources, and leadership and networking opportunities. NSCS has more than 800,000 members and more than 280 chapters in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
