Ever wonder who's responsible for educating our student population about local ordinances and good neighboring behavior?
On the night of Aug. 24, in what has become a local tradition, over one hundred volunteers (including Fort Collins PD, CSU students/faculty/staff, and city staff) come together for roughly three to four hours and visit thousands of homes close to campus.
Households receive a unique deck of cards that include city codes, ordinances and resourceful phone numbers. As a volunteer, you will also help us distribute a brochure that welcomes everyone to the new academic year.
In addition to educating students about good neighboring behaviors associated with off-campus living, the event was created to welcome students back to Fort Collins for the new school year.
Each team emphasizes the importance for forming positive relationships with those in your neighborhood; whether it is a long-term resident, new family, or fellow student. We encourage residents, new and old, to introduce themselves and exchange contact information.
If you would like to volunteer for this event, please contact Laura Barron at the Off-Campus Life office at (970) 491-2248.
Volunteer check-in starts at 4:30 p.m. in the West Ballroom of the Lory Student Center. Don’t forget your water bottle and wear your walking shoes. The event usually goes until 8 p.m.
