Are You a Green Warrior? This semester, students can take the Green Warrior pledge to protect the environment. By participating, students can earn points for prizes while helping out Mother Nature.
This semester, students can do their part to protect the environment by becoming a Green Warrior and fighting against environmentally detrimental behavior. Students can report green actions to earn points towards sustainable prizes and the coveted “Green Warrior Certification.”
In addition to earning prizes, Green Warriors will be informed of weekly sustainability themes along with “Green Tips” for that week’s theme. This week’s theme is recycling, so pay close attention to what can and cannot be recycled. If you are unsure about an item check out CSU’s recycling guide. Future weekly Green Warrior themes include water usage, electricity, green dining, social justice, alternative transportation, compost, and renewable energy.
To get started, students can log on to the Green Warrior website using their EID. Students will be asked to provide their e-mail address along with some additional information so the Green Warrior team is able to coordinate the distribution of prizes (your e-mail will not be used for any other purpose). On the score sheet students will take the Green Warrior pledge, which is not to be taken lightly. Remember, once a Green Warrior, always a Green Warrior.
After these steps, students are ready to start earning points for all of their Green Warrior tactics. From shorter showers to shutting off lights, Green Warriors are able to earn points for almost every green action they take. If you don’t see your particular green efforts on the list, no need to worry. Give a brief description of your actions in the “Bonus” category, and a Green Warrior team member will evaluate your action and award points accordingly.
Once a Green Warrior begins their fight for Mother Earth, they can earn various prizes depending on the amount of points they’ve earned. For example, 25 points earns a sticker and compact fluorescent light bulb, 50 points earns a Green Warrior T-shirt, 75 points earns a remote-controlled power strip, and 90 points earns a “Green Warrior Certification” decal and a chance to win a bike.
So, do you have what it takes to be a Green Warrior?
