Masks, beads, food, horse-and-carriage rides...
Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, 7 p.m.Join ASAP Special Events for a Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball to begin Mardi Gras celebrations. With masks, beads, and food, this is a must-see event to come out and enjoy.
We will be celebrating a night of New Orleans tradition in the Lory Student Center North Ballroom. Horse and carriage rides will also be available. This is a free event for all students.
Lory Student Center North Ballroom is located on the 2nd floor with best access being the stairs in the Lory Student Center Transit Center.
A collection ofcarnival celebrations held the day before Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent and occurs 40 days before Easter.
From the French term "Mardi Gras" translates to "Fat Tuesday." The term has come to mean the whole period of activities related to the celebration and not just a single day.
