CSU's Center for Public Deliberation is co-hosting the second in a series of community discussions about our aging population.

The discussion, “Growing Older in Fort Collins – The Silver Tsunami as a Golden Opportunity”, will be from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. March 1 at the Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive. The public is invited and encouraged to attend.
“Silver Tsunami” is a term coined to describe the wave of up to 10,000 members of the Baby Boom Generation turning 65 each day nationwide. Baby Boomers are expected to change the definition of retirement in that they will live longer, be more active, spend more, save less, keep working and do more volunteering than previous generations. Larimer County’s over-65 population is expected to increase 140 percent over the next 20 years.
Fort Collins is considered one of the nation’s best retirement communities. The discussion will give current and future retirees the opportunity to voice opinions about how the city can best position itself to remain a vibrant, engaged community for older residents.
Following a report on the previous meeting in November, a panel of community leaders will talk about preparations for impending changes in the city.

Presentations will be followed by an audience Q&A and group discussions facilitated by students from the Center for Public Deliberation. The program will conclude with an audience survey to gather responses, ideas and potential next steps.
