CSU to host symposium on Climate Change and the Built Environment April 27

CSU will host a spring symposium on Climate Change and the Built Environment Industry on April 27 at the Lory Student Center.

The event is organized by the Carbon Footprint Metric for the Built Environment Working Group through the university's School of Global Environmental Sustainability. Discussion will focus on the notion that only a profound collaboration between science, design and construction will generate the social change to move America to carbon neutral buildings.

The symposium will feature keynote addresses by some of the built environment’s leading practitioners, including Ed Mazria, founder of Architecture 2030, and a leader in the global conversation on solutions to climate change through transforming the built environment.

Scott Denning, CSU Monfort Professor and Director for Education and Diversity of NSF's Center on Multiscale Modeling of Atmospheric Processes, and Victor Olgyay, Principal, Rocky Mountain Institute will also speak.

Participants will also explore, through breakout groups, three key areas of potential collaboration between the construction industry and the large research university: Developing and harnessing standards, methods of assessments, measurement tools and concrete collaborative models to harness the strengths and skills of both communities in developing a carbon neutral future.
