Bike to Work Day June 27

On the 25th annual Bike to Work Day, Parking Services is teaming up with Haseldon/Barton Malow Construction to sponsor a breakfast station on the Oval from 6:30-9:30 a.m. They'll also register bikes, answer questions, and host free, minor, on-site repairs and adjustments.

Bike to Work Day keeps getting bigger and better every year. Join the community in leaving your vehicle at home and biking into work as a healthier, greener, and fun alternative mode of transportation.

Volunteers will be:

• Serving coffee, juice, water, and continental breakfast items
• Registering bicycles; please have your bike, $10 cash, or check available
• Hosting a bike mechanic on-site for free minor repairs and adjustments
• Giving out bike maps and information and answering questions for bicyclists who stop by the station

Share the road

Bicycling is the fastest and most convenient way to get around the City of Fort Collins and the CSU campus.  Bicyclists have the same rights and responsibilities as motorists.  Under state law, bicycles are considered vehicles and should obey all traffic laws, signs, and signals.  

Here are tips on how to be a respectful bicyclist:

• Walk your bike in dismount zones and on sidewalks in downtown Fort Collins.
• Respect is a two-way street.  Bicyclists are required to stop at traffic lights and stop signs.
• Ride predictably -- use hand signals and make eye contact with motorists.
• Ride your bicycle at night with front and rear lights.
• Ride on the right hand side of the road with the flow of traffic and don't ride the wrong way.
• Wear a helmet.
• Remember, pedestrians have the right of way when they are crossing the street.
