Ram Welcome is an orientation and transition program for all new first-year and transfer students.
Ram Welcome 2012All new first-year and transfer students attend Ram Welcome the four days before classes begin. It builds upon the orientation experience (including Preview, Next Step and CSU Connect) for new students once they have arrived on campus in the fall. Ram Welcome begins on Thursday, Aug. 16, and continues throughout the weekend.
Ram Welcome 2012 will help new students:

Ram Welcome for new first-year students begins at 4 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, after students have moved into their residence halls and attended their floor meeting. Transfer Ram Welcome begins at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, with the Transfer, Veteran and Adult Learner Welcome in the Student Recreation Center.
At 4:30 p.m., new first-year students will meet their Ram Welcome Leader and learn everything they need to know about when and where to be for Ram Welcome.
From there, new first-year students and transfer students will attend Convocation and be officially welcomed to the University. Students should don their green for this official welcoming from President Tony Frank, Provost Rick Miranda, Vice President for Student Affairs Blanche Hughes and the ASCSU President.
Following Convocation, students and parents are invited to the New Student and Family Picnic with the CSU Alumni Association. The outdoor picnic will take place on the Intramural Fields. New students will need to show their RamCard, and parents and family members will need a ticket to attend the event. The deadline to purchase tickets for parents and family members was July 31, 2012. There will be a limited number of tickets available the day of at the Lory Student Center I-Box on a first come, first-serve basis.
The Carnival and President's Concert will kick off at 7 p.m. and include games, snacks, carnival rides and live music on the Intramural Fields and in front of the Student Recreation Center.
On Friday, students are encouraged to attend College Welcome following breakfast. College Welcome gives students the chance to meet their college dean, faculty and academic advisor, as well as tour their department and classrooms.
Following College Welcome will be the Faculty and New Student Lunch where students will swipe their RamCard for a bite to eat while they get to know faculty, staff and other students within their department.
At noon, students will have the opportunity to attend the Street Fair under Clark B. The Street Fair showcases a variety of CSU resources, including programs of study, student services and student organizations.
That evening, students can join Campus Activities at the Lory Student Center for Ramapalooza from 7 p.m. until midnight. Entertainment will include live comedy and music performances, casino night, caricature artists, crafts, food and prizes.
On Saturday, students will experience We Are CSU and discover what it means to be a part of the CSU community while taking the traditional C-S-U photo. Students also will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of interest programs, such as Hike to the 'A,' IM Sports Night and Ram Night at Super Target.
