This week, Colorado State University's Lory Student Center will get "into the groove" as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, paying tribute to each decade of the center's existence since 1962.
Starting Sept. 16, the three-week celebration includes lectures, movies, reunions and a variety of activities commemorating the building and its past.
As part of the celebration, the Lory Student Center will honor the “LSC 7,” a group of seven student leaders pictured in front of the Lory Student Center’s 1960 ground-breaking photo and instrumental in the building’s construction. These students will be present at many of the events and will ride on the student center’s Homecoming and Family Weekend float on Oct. 5.
Along with the “LSC 7” will be the “New Faces of the LSC,” 15 new students that the Lory Student Center has chosen to represent the future of the student center as it moves forward for the next 50 years.
All events are free and open to the public. Events include:
The Lory Student Center’s Curfman Gallery also will be open through Oct. 9 showcasing “Our Visual History: 50 Years of Art in the Lory Student Center.”
