March 3, 2009
International Women's Day is celebrated in many countries around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political.

International Women's Day is an occasion for looking back on past struggles and accomplishments, and more importantly, for looking ahead to the untapped potential and opportunities that await future generations of women.
Council of International Student Affairs, or COISA, the Office of International Programs, with help from the LSC Diversity Grant, have several events planned leading up to the day of March 8:
Thursday, March 5, 3 to 5 p.m., Lory Student Center Room 220
Don’t miss the unique opportunity to meet women from every geographical region of the world, of different ages, stories and lives! Come and meet women who are from or have lived in China, Brazil, Pakistan, Jamaica, Jordan, the United States, Colombia, Bolivia, Germany and Indonesia! Don’t miss this opportunity to hear their stories and perspectives! Dr. Sue Ellen Charlton, a political science professor at CSU, is facilitating this panel discussion.
Friday, March 6, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Lory Student Center Duhesa Lounge
Come and enjoy displays of artifacts, art pieces, and clothing from all over the world! Write, decorate, and send a postcard to thank a woman in your own life that has inspired and changed you. Learn about famous international women and their inspirational causes across the globe.
Friday, March 6, 7 to 10 p.m., Lory Student Center Theatre
An incredible, controversial, yet touching film called Inch ‘Allah Dimanche, which features the experiences of a North-African immigrant family in France. This film incorporates issues of gender inequality, domestic violence, immigration experience, and xenophobic prejudice. An optional discussion will follow the movie.
All events are free and open to the public.
